CFE Tax Advisers Europe, the Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants Association (AOTCA) and the West African Union of Tax Institutes (WAUTI) declared their joint commitment to establish a global forum for cooperation on specific tax issues. The GTACF, now knom as GTAP – Global Tax Advisers Platform, was set up in 2013 to provide a global response of tax advisers to international tax initiatives by organisations such as the OECD and the UN.
Given the increasing globalisation of tax policy and administration, the three organisations highlight the role of the tax advisers’ profession in the development of tax policies and the promotion and enhancement of taxpayer rights and their responsibilities.
Cooperation should be further enhanced for the better structuring and operation of the world’s tax systems, securing and maintaining the rights of taxpayers and ensuring the continuing role and rights of tax advisers throughout the world.
To that end the Saint Petersburg Declaration was signed on 20 September 2013 at the occasion of the General Assembly of the CFE in St. Petersburg, Russia.
